Ramya Sunad, who entered the field of dance at a very young age, was trained first by Smt. Radha Sridhar and then from 1992 by Smt. Vani Ganapathy who is amongst the top Bharatanatyam dancers of India today. Ramya is among the senior-most of the students of Smt. Vani Ganapathy. Like her preceptor, Ramya feels that dancing demands the most arduous discipline and to perform with dedication and involvement is a great responsibility. To Ramya, dance is an essence of life and is the greatest gift of the Lord to her. Having completed her Rangapravesha in 2001, Ramya has performed in several renowned organizations like: · Indian Council
of Cultural Relations Reviews in the press: " Ramya's Rangapravesha was equivalent to any of the senior artists' Abhinaya, Aramandi and Angashuddhi and complete to taala "- (translated) Udayavani Oct 2001 " sure footed with lucid abhinaya "- The Hindu, Nov 2002 " glistening pair of eyes, good grounding, and execution with ease and assurance "- Deccan Herald, Aug 2006 " brilliant performance by Ramya Sunad "- (translated) Prajavani, Aug 2006 "Students prove worthy of the Guru The greatness of dancer-teacher Vani Ganapathi came to the fore when her disciple Ramya Sunad's dance elaboration of Guru Kalyanasundaram's Sri raga varna (Swami unnaithy) at the Yavanika on the last day of the Ankura 2006 dance festival contained all the salient features of a meritorious Bharatanatya artistry " - Deccan Herald, Oct 2008.
