Asavari Pawar is the talented daughter of Internationally celebrated dancer Pratap Pawar. She began her training at an early age under her father and guru Shri Pratap Pawar and continued her studies with Pandit Vijay Shankar in India. Before she was eight years old, Asavari satrted performing with her parents and has gone to become a leading member of their Triveni Dance Troupe and an acclaimed solo artiste. She has performed for English, Scottish, appeared several times on Delhi Doordarshan. Asavari's award - winning production is "The Coat". It tells the tale of a young woman from a village in India on the eve of her journey to Britain to join the husband she has not seen for many years. What will she find when she gets there, and how will she manage in this strange new land ? These are the questions asks herself, questions familiar to many women who have left their homes to join husbands abroad. Asavari's mood swings from the vivacious to the poignant as she sets out to describe through her dance the many faces and patterns of youth, love and the joy of life. Kathak is one of the most expressive forms of Indian Classical Dance, renowned for the complexit ies of both footwork and rhythms. Asavari works with a group of musicians of international repute. |
