Deepa’s training in Classical dance began by training in Bhartanatyam. However, growing up watching other dance forms, she was drawn very passionately to Mohiniattam. With lessons soundly laid in Bhartanatyam, she decided to explore the Mohiniattam style that highlights Lasya, the sensual essence of the feminine grace. In this quest, she considers herself blessed to be trained under two experts of Mohiniattam – Smt. Gopika Varma and Dr. Neena Prasad.

She initiated her learning under Gopika Varma in Chennai and established an identity as a dancer to watch. The advanced training that she is currently pursuing under Dr. Neena Prasad is to add a holistic dimension to the grasp of the nuances and the technicalities in the dance form. Dr. Neena Prasad, an exponent of this dance form with brilliant academic pursuits is engaged in teaching responsibilities - molding and grooming of aspiring dance professionals. Under her clear guidance and mentorship, Deepa is blossoming as a performing artist and a choreographer.

Deepa's solo performances in Mohiniattam received appreciation from press and people alike.
