UMA GOVIND is naturally endowed and with a solid training in Bharata Natyam under the supervision of renowned Bharata Natyam Choreographer, Teacher, Promoter, Innovator Guru Smt. V.Mydhili, continues her journey with her chosen medium of expression trying to explore the inner meaning and happiness from performing and experimenting with her first love, dance.

Each performance is for her a tremendous learning experience, filling with a sense of euphoria, because dance for her is a celebration of life. She seems to be more at ease with her dance. Her impressive stage presence and beautiful movements have been appreciated by people who are highly musical.
Uma plays major roles in all group choreographies of her Guru and in the productions of Midhilalaya Dance Academy. Uma is an “A GRADE” artist of National Dooradarshan and is currently pursuing to obtain Masters degree in the field of Arts in Bharata Natyam from Bharathidasan University.

Started learning classical dance under the supervision of Guru V.Mydhili, and gave her first performance at the tender age of six, She has been performing continuously since.

Uma has presented more than 200 performances till date and have learned about 80 compositions and continues to add more to her repertoire.

After over fifteen years of learning classical dance, Uma continues to be a passionate student of this glorious art. The creativity, the beauty of movements and the variety in dance fascinate her.
Though she is proficient in academics, as a graduate student in Physics, she is committed to Bharata Natyam as a life time pursuit.
